It's funny how companies will throw tons of money and resources at a whole new box instead of putting in half the effort to force better optimization. I'm still to this day convinced gpu makers cut deals with devs so they don't optimize their titles to get people to buy new hardware.

GTA V runs 30 FPS on a PS4 Pro, RDR II didn't get a 60 FPS PS5 patch, I do not see GTA VI running 60 FPS on PS5 Pro. For me the PS5 Pro does not make any sense, the definitive place to play PlayStation IPs today is unfortunately the PC, TLoU Part II is coming out there, all PS games are getting there.

It's better that this sort of "Ideal Gaming PC Tower and Gaming Laptop(s)" is probably going to cost at least 1400 or 1200 hundred dollars if it wants to compete with other PCs. People already tried 500 hundred or 700 hundred dollar new machines in pc gaming and all they did was piss off a lot of gullible customers that thought every gig in their machine should be dedicated to their personal gaming and music needs. That's why most PC gamers get Computer Systems that are capable of One Terabyte (One Thousand Gigabytes of Hard Drive) or more. Some of these new games are about over 100 Gigs alone.

I’m a diehard PlayStation fan since the beginning of the first PlayStation… but what recently made me switch to PC was the frame rate and being able to customize the graphics on any game… playing at 120 or higher fps was a mind blowing thing for me and I just could never go back

The fact that the makers of these damn boxes are trying to push the idea that this gen is almost over makes me nervous for the future of gaming. Theres no real worthy memorable games exclusive to the PS5. A bunch of remakes. Or games that started developement on ps4 and were just put on ps5. Other than Spiderman...the best looking game on ps5 ive seen so far is ps4 rdr2. This gen has been 💩.

They could upgrade GPU performance a little with more vram and improved performance for certain tasks. But upgrading the CPU would cause problems like games running too fast. They could add more RAM too or clock the RAM higher or both. Maybe an upgraded nvme also. But that's all that can be done for performance. Outside of performance they could upgrade the network connectivity options, improve cooling and change the controller. From there it's all cosmetic.

Bro, I am quite confused with the sentiments, I come from the perspective of a casual gamer, I play once a week typically, I am able to play with my friends, able to play a lot of good games I like on gamepass and have a whole list of games to play, and am excited for the future to plag the Indiana Jones Game, the Starfield DLC, and the new doom game, while I am not representative of everyone, I do feel that console is no where close to dead, though playstation has been looking quite nice with GOW and Spiderman 2.

Ray tracing hype is the gotcha marketing for PC/ console tech heads... as the teraflops is the marketing gotcha for the existint console war ppl. Also, in my opinion, the only ppl that should be super pumped about ray tracing or lumen are game developers cause thats less time they have to spend on lighting fidelity.. to have an easier development or to spend more time on other stuff

Basically PS 5 pro is what actual ps 5 should have been from start, but parts were too expensive for 2020 and they decided to make money selling weaker, underpowered consoles still marketing them as 4k 60 fps machines. I envy Sony how well they bullshit their own audience and make money off them. Now they are making an actual playstation 5.

Never bought a PS5, but if I need one to play GTA6, I'll probably end up buying the Pro. For just a $100 difference, I'll go with the more powerful model.

To make money if they can make it 4k60fps for ps5 games on high fidelity/quality settings it’ll be worth it
